Ottawa Moves Forward with New Splash Pad and Boarded Hockey Rink Projects
The City of Ottawa is planning a splash pad at Bayshore Park in Ward 7. The proposal would convert an underused baseball diamond into a water‑play facility with accessible pathways, seating, landscaping and necessary water, drainage and electrical services. Design work is slated for 2026 with construction aimed for 2027, subject to approvals and budget.
Separately, the city piloted a boarded hockey rink at Sylvia Holden Park this past winter, installing water infrastructure and temporary lighting. The next phase would add permanent lighting directed away from nearby homes, a permanent rink shack, and a heated change room, pending further community consultation. Both projects aim to expand recreational options for local families and encourage volunteer involvement.
