Ottawa Senators sign Ben Hutton to professional tryout

The Ottawa Senators have signed defenseman Ben Hutton to a professional tryout (PTO) contract ahead of the 2026-27 training camp. Hutton, a veteran who spent the last five seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights, is expected to provide depth as the team manages injuries to its blueline, specifically concerning Artem Zub.

In addition to Hutton, the Senators have been linked to free-agent defenseman Logan Stanley for a potential PTO. Stanley, a 6-foot-7 defender, split last season between the Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres. While the Senators are exploring these options to bolster their defensive rotation, the team is also looking toward the future with the potential promotion of top prospect Carter Yakemchuk to a full-time role.
