Ottery St Mary councillors approve £10,000 pedestrian crossing study

Councillors in Ottery St Mary have approved a £10,000 expenditure for a feasibility study regarding a new pedestrian crossing on Broad Street. The study will be conducted by Devon County Council (DCC) to determine the suitability of the location and provide estimated costs for the project.

While the move is intended to address safety concerns at a location where residents frequently cross, some local officials expressed frustration over the cost. Councillor Vicky Johns noted that taxpayers are funding the study and remarked that DCC is the only body capable of performing a study that the county council would accept.
