Ottneil Baartman ruled out of South Africa's ODI series against Australia

South Africa's ODI squad has suffered significant injury setbacks ahead of their upcoming series against Australia, which begins on September 24. Right-arm medium pacer Ottneil Baartman has been ruled out of the series due to a left hamstring injury sustained during a red-ball match. Duan Jansen has been named as his replacement and is expected to join the squad in Durban on September 19.

Baartman is the second major bowling loss for the Proteas, following the unavailability of Kagiso Rabada, who is also sidelined with a hamstring concern. While Rabada's status for the subsequent three-Test series starting October 9 remains uncertain, Cricket South Africa has not yet confirmed his recovery timeline. Additionally, the fitness of Lungi Ngidi is under scrutiny following his recent departure from the field during a match against the Dolphins.

The 16-member squad features the return of captain Temba Bavuma and senior batters David Miller and Quinton de Kock. Gerald Coetzee has been included to help fill the void left by Rabada.
