Otto de la Rocha honored in Managua on 93rd birth anniversary

Managua held a tribute titled ‘Entre Canciones y Ocurrencias’ to honor the 93rd anniversary of the birth of Nicaraguan singer-songwriter Otto de la Rocha. The event took place at the Casa de Cultura y Creatividad, which bears his name.

The celebration featured musical performances of his most iconic songs, including ‘El Fornalero’, ‘Plutarco Malpaisillo’, ‘Managua Linda Managua’, ‘El Cañalito’, and ‘Diluvio de Amor’. The program also incorporated storytelling and humor, reflecting the artist's unique style that blended music with narrative.

Managua Vice-Mayor Enrique Armas Rosales described de la Rocha as one of the greatest personalities in Nicaraguan culture, noting his role as both a singer and a composer of national themes. The event was attended by the artist's son, Gabriel de la Rocha, and his widow, Georgina Valdivia.
