Otto family takes legal action against BILD newspaper

The family of entrepreneur Michael Otto has initiated legal action against the BILD newspaper following reports regarding a private family law dispute. Attorney Verena Haisch, representing Michael Otto, Janina Otto, and her children, has accused the tabloid of publishing numerous untruths and committing severe violations of personality rights.

The legal dispute stems from BILD’s coverage of a family court matter involving Janina Otto and her former partner, Ismail Özen. The family’s legal representative stated that the reporting disclosed highly personal and strictly confidential matters that the family had intentionally kept private to protect their privacy.

Haisch has confirmed that both press law and criminal proceedings have been initiated against the publication. The family has requested that their privacy be respected and has asked that the media refrain from further inquiries or the adoption of the contested reporting.
