Otumba residents demand justice after triple homicide of two students

Residents of Otumba and the Valle de Teotihuacán region are demanding justice following the triple homicide of three young people, including two students from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx).

Joselyn Sandoval Calderón, a 21-year-old law student, and her boyfriend, Juan Carlos Ortiz Bravo, a law graduate, were among the victims. The bodies of the two men were discovered inside a vehicle in central Otumba, while Sandoval’s body was found near the México-Tulancingo highway. A third unidentified young man was also killed.

Local citizens have expressed deep fear and indignation, citing a rise in criminal activity, including daylight robberies and shootings. Families and community members are calling for increased presence from federal and state security forces to address the growing insecurity in the area.
