Otávio may start for Brazil following Ancelotti's training changes

Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti is considering significant changes to the starting lineup ahead of the upcoming friendly against Australia in Brisbane. During training sessions, goalkeeper Otávio of Cruzeiro has been tested in the starting role, potentially becoming the first Cruzeiro goalkeeper to start for the national team in 23 years, a feat last achieved by Gomes in 2003 and Dida in 1997.

Ancelotti’s tactical adjustments include a complete overhaul of the defensive sector. Otávio, Vanderson, Jair, Gabriel Magalhães, and Mauro Júnior were among those participating in the starting lineup drills, replacing Hugo Souza, Matheuzinho, Marquinhos, and Douglas Santos. Additionally, the coach is experimenting with different formations and player roles, such as testing Raphinha as a center-forward and integrating younger players like Gabriel Bontempo and Rayan into the midfield and attack.
