Burkina Faso intensifies regulatory enforcement across multiple sectors

Burkina Faso is conducting several enforcement operations across various sectors to ensure regulatory compliance.

In Ouagadougou, the implementation of video-verbalization for traffic monitoring recorded 19,910 infractions during August 2026. Security Minister Mahamadou Sana reported that failure to wear seatbelts accounted for 71.31% of these cases, followed by speeding at 15.36%. While the system generated 146,559,000 CFA francs in fines, only approximately 10% has been collected so far.

Simultaneously, the Mobile Brigade for Economic Control and Fraud Repression (BMCRF) has intensified inspections of cement retailers to combat illegal price hikes. Authorities have closed several shops and ordered owners to perform community service following the discovery of price violations and illegal storage in neighborhoods such as Cissin and Bonheur-Ville.

In the social security sector, the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), led by Director General Herman Yacouba Nacambo, is targeting the beverage and bar industry. Inspections in the Kadiogo and Nando regions revealed widespread failure to declare employees or pay social contributions, prompting a campaign of both sensitization and strict control to protect worker rights.
