Ouagadougou: Infant found abandoned in Saonré district
A female infant, approximately one month old, was found abandoned near a kiosk in the Saonré district of Ouagadougou on the morning of Monday, September 14, 2026. The baby was left with her bedding and appeared to be in good health at the time of discovery around 6:00 a.m.
The incident has drawn significant emotional responses and indignation from local residents. Mansour Zongo, a construction entrepreneur, expressed his willingness to adopt the child, stating that a life cannot be bought and should never be abandoned. He also called for greater responsibility to prevent such occurrences.
Annick Palm/Bakyono, a midwife from the Tingindalgué CSPS, advised anyone interested in adoption to contact the Ministry of Family to follow official legal procedures. Local firefighters, residents, and medical staff waited for police arrival to document the scene before the infant received medical care and administrative processing began.
