Ouarzazate massage parlor owner arrested for human trafficking

Moroccan authorities have arrested the owner of a massage and medical rehabilitation center in Ouarzazate on suspicion of human trafficking and operating a prostitution ring. The investigation, led by the Regional Judicial Police Service of Ouarzazate, began following reports that the establishment was being used for illegal activities.

During a field operation, police detained an assistant to the owner and caught a client in the act. Investigators found evidence suggesting that the owner exploited female employees facing difficult socio-economic conditions, taking the majority of the earnings while paying them minimal wages.

After the initial raid, a national search warrant was issued for the owner, who had fled. She was subsequently intercepted by security services at Agadir Al-Massira Airport while attempting to depart for France. The suspect, who reportedly faced similar judicial proceedings in 2023, has been transferred to Ouarzazate for further investigation. The assistant remains in custody pending legal proceedings.
