Oudenbosch playground opens as Koog housing construction begins

A new community park called De Brink was officially opened in Oudenbosch on 9 July 2026. The multifunctional space includes a playground, a pump‑track, a football field and a freerun area, with wheelchair‑accessible features. Its design resulted from a participatory process involving local residents, schools and the municipal council, aiming to provide an inclusive meeting point for all ages.

In Koog aan de Zaan, construction started on 8 July 2026 on the Brughoofd project, a development of 40 new homes – 20 owner‑occupied apartments, 15 rental units and five ground‑level houses – slated for completion in 2027. The project is part of Zaanstad’s broader plan to add roughly 20 000 new dwellings by 2040, contributing to the city’s goal of delivering 1 000 new homes per year.

Both initiatives illustrate Dutch municipalities’ focus on expanding local infrastructure and housing to meet community needs.
