Our Lady of Guadalupe tilma replica begins traveling tour

A replica of the tilma of Our Lady of Guadalupe is traveling to various locations as part of religious preparations for the 500th anniversary of the apparition in 2031.

In Mexico City, Bishop Michael Pham received the relic during a pilgrimage at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The replica is intended to visit every parish and school within the Diocese of San Diego. Father Edgar Valtierra, representing the Basilica’s rector, described the tilma as a sign of presence intended to reach across borders.

In the United Kingdom, the traveling replica was also hosted at Mother of God Church in Sheffield. The event included Mass, a presentation on the history of the devotion, and an opportunity for parishioners and students to view the replica cloak, which has touched the original tilma in Mexico.
