Oura sues Ultrahuman over smart ring patent infringement
Finnish wearable company Oura has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Indian startup Ultrahuman in a Texas federal court. The legal action targets the internal hardware and physical architecture of the newly released Ultrahuman Ring Pro.
Oura alleges that the Ring Pro infringes on patents related to its curved batteries, circuit boards, magnets, and sensors. The lawsuit was filed on October 22, 2026, just two days after Oura was granted U.S. Patent 12,769,363. Oura is seeking monetary damages and a permanent injunction to ban the sale of the Ring Pro in the United States.
Ultrahuman CEO Mohit Kumar noted that Oura is asserting new patents following previous legal disputes. This litigation occurs amid a growing market for smart rings, with global shipments projected to reach 4.9 million units this year.
