Ourense hosts 10th Meeting of Iberian Film and Audiovisual Academies

The 10th Meeting of Film and Audiovisual Academies of the Iberian Peninsula has commenced in Ourense, organized by the Academia Galega do Audiovisual within the framework of the Ourense Film Festival (OUFF).

Participating institutions include academies from Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, Valencia, and Portugal. The gathering aims to foster dialogue and cooperation regarding industry challenges, such as the regulation of artificial intelligence in awards, the inclusion of feature films in co-official languages, and the restructuring of acting categories to eliminate gender segregation.

A key highlight is the presentation of the 2026 Places of Cinematographic Interest (LIC), an initiative identifying locations with significant historical and symbolic value for the audiovisual sector. Additionally, the festival features discussions on the future of film festivals with José Luis Rebordinos, director of the San Sebastián Film Festival, and organized film routes to showcase local landscapes used in recognized productions.
