Ourense Mayor seeks opposition support for thermal baths and holiday spending

Ourense Mayor Gonzalo Pérez Jácome has called an extraordinary plenary session to address several critical municipal issues requiring opposition support. A primary focus is the reopening of the As Burgas thermal baths, which have remained closed for over six years since the COVID-19 pandemic. The mayor’s proposal includes a new ordinance that would introduce a 7-euro entry fee for a service that was previously free, a move facing significant pushback from opposition parties and user platforms.

Additionally, the session will address the lifting of auditor objections regarding the adjudication of Christmas lighting, a project with a budget of 780,000 euros. The mayor also seeks to resolve a credit modification related to outstanding invoices from Ecourense totaling more than 4.34 million euros.
