Ourense records high number of overnight stays in July

Ourense recorded its third-best July in the last decade, surpassing a record for overnight stays with 70,242 stays reported by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE). While the total number of visitors did not reach the 2019 peak, the average duration of visits increased, exceeding two nights per visitor.

Tourism in the province is driven primarily by domestic travelers, who account for nearly 84% of visitors. One in three comes from other parts of Galicia, while visitors from Madrid represent over 20%. International tourism also saw growth, with 5,467 foreign visitors—the second-highest figure since 2018—and 11,260 overnight stays, marking a ten-year high for international visitors.

Despite the growth in stay duration, the province has not added new hotel establishments or estimated places in two years. The average nightly rate in Ourense is approximately 73.72 euros, significantly lower than the Galician average of 148.47 euros.
