Ousmane Sonko's Pastef party gains members in Dahra Djoloff

In Dahra Djoloff, former members of the Grand Parti have officially joined the Pastef party. Led by Dr. Bérouba Guissé, the former national number two of the Grand Parti, supporters gathered in the Penc district on September 11, 2026, to formalize their membership by purchasing party cards.

Dr. Guissé reported that approximately 300 cards were sold during the gathering. Similar membership drives are reportedly continuing in the Linguère department, including in the communes of Boulal and Mboula, with at least 800 cards sold in the department to date.

Separately, authorities have clarified that rumors regarding an espionage investigation against Ousmane Sonko are unfounded. While a real judicial inquiry was opened in July 2026 following complaints about remarks made in Mbacké regarding Touba, sources have confirmed that no espionage proceedings or searches have taken place, debunking social media claims that conflated the two issues.
