Outdoor activities and nature excursions scheduled in Ruhr region

Various outdoor and cultural events are scheduled across the Ruhr region in August 2026.

In Aplerbeck, the SGV Hörde is organizing a 2-kilometer evening hike to ‘Fröhliche Morgensonne’ on August 14. The walk begins at Hörde station at 5:00 PM and requires registration by August 12.

In Herten, the RVR has announced a diverse program around Halde Hoheward and the Ewald mine. Highlights include guided hikes with views of the Cranger Kirmes fireworks on August 16, a QiGong-integrated walk on August 22, and a family-oriented bat-watching hike on August 14. Other activities include a 36-kilometer cycling tour on August 15, minibus tours of the artificial hill, and Hatha yoga sessions held under the mining headframe at the former Recklinghausen II mine on August 12 and 23.
