Outer Hebrides search for missing fishermen continues after one body recovered
A search operation is underway in the Outer Hebrides following the disappearance of a fishing vessel near the Port of Ness on the Isle of Lewis. The body of one man, believed to be the vessel’s skipper, was recovered at 2:45 am on Wednesday, though formal identification has not yet occurred.
Two other crew members remain missing, along with the boat. The search involves multiple agencies, including Police Scotland, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and the RNLI. Resources deployed include an aircraft, two helicopters, six coastguard rescue teams, two lifeboats, and a local vessel.
Rescue efforts have been hampered by severe weather and challenging sea conditions. Local authorities have advised the public not to attempt independent searches in dangerous areas and to contact emergency services if they have any information regarding the incident.
