OutRun series receives technical updates for PC and Amiga

The OutRun franchise is receiving technical updates from the fan community to celebrate its legacy and improve accessibility on modern and legacy hardware.

A new fan-made patch titled ‘OutRun2006Tweaks’, developed by moose, has modernized the PC version of OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast. The update improves graphics, increases resolution and draw distance, and restores online multiplayer functionality which had been unavailable for over 15 years. The patch also addresses technical issues by decoupling the frame rate from the game speed, allowing for higher FPS without affecting gameplay physics.

Simultaneously, in anticipation of the series' 40th anniversary, developer Reassembler has released a technical update for the OutRun Amiga Edition. This update provides up to a 50% performance boost on original Commodore Amiga hardware through optimized graphic engine routines, improved sprite and shadow handling, and unlocked frame rendering.
