Outsider Enterprise AI‑driven fraud campaign expands globally
A criminal group calling itself “Outsider Enterprise” is using artificial intelligence to automate large‑scale online fraud. The group creates thousands of counterfeit banking, shipping and e‑commerce websites, generates deep‑fake images, audio and video, and sends bulk SMS messages with malicious links that harvest personal data and credit‑card information. Vietnamese cyber‑security authorities say the operation, active from November 2025 to June 2026, has targeted millions of cards and caused losses measured in billions of dollars.
At the same time, bots now dominate much of internet traffic. Cloudflare reports that roughly 60 % of all online interactions are generated by automated programs rather than humans. These bots are employed for a range of activities, from legitimate background tasks to illicit schemes such as ticket scalping, automated shopping, real‑estate ad scraping and mass phishing. The rapid growth of AI is accelerating bot production, blurring the line between human and machine activity online.
