Ovada marks fifth anniversary of Orba River flood

The fifth anniversary of the Orba River flood in Ovada marks a period of reflection and ongoing mitigation efforts. The disaster, which occurred on October 4, 2021, was caused by unprecedented monsoon-like rainfall that led to the river overflowing, inundating businesses, rural homes, and various local areas.

To prevent a recurrence, a procedure has recently concluded to assign a contract for hydrogeological risk reduction interventions along the Orba riverbed. This project is supported by extraordinary funding from the Piedmont Region, aiming to strengthen the area against future extreme weather events.
