Ovalle’s La Perla del Limarí Painting Competition Opens 10th‑Anniversary Submissions

The Corporación Cultural Municipal de Ovalle (CCMO) has launched the tenth edition of the regional painting contest La Perla del Limarí – Premio Guillermo Pizarro Vega, marking a decade of promoting visual arts in the Coquimbo Region. Artists aged 18 and older may submit works online until 23:59 on 1 September 2026, with the curatorial focus “Territorios en transformación: memorias, paisajes y futuros desde el Limarí”.

The 2026 edition adds an In Situ modality, encouraging live, site‑specific creations that explore the region’s identities, heritage, communities and future imaginaries. Executive director Ifman Huerta Saavedra called on the community to participate, emphasizing the aim to showcase the diverse pictorial languages of the area. Selected pieces will be featured in the official exhibition and a regional circulation program, strengthening the artistic heritage of Ovalle and the broader Coquimbo Region.
