Over De Oceaan: New crew sails from Cape Verde to Rio

The fourth season of the Belgian series ‘Over De Oceaan’ follows a new crew of six inexperienced sailors as they attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean. Departing from the Cape Verde Islands, the group aims to reach Rio de Janeiro in time for the Brazilian Carnival.

The crew includes Lynn Van den Broeck, Timon Verbeeck, Kate Ryan, Pierre Boeraeve, Steven Defour, and Ayana Doucouré. Each participant has been assigned specific roles, such as cook, scientist, helmswoman, baker, safety manager, and communicator.

The journey presents significant challenges, including unpredictable weather, seasickness, and the crossing of the doldrums near the equator. This region is known for its combination of sudden storms and periods of windlessness, which can stall progress. The series is available on Streamz and will air weekly on Play starting November 1.
