Overijssel sees spate of traffic crashes, stabbing and fire incidents

A series of emergency incidents were reported across Overijssel. In Beuningen, a cyclist was involved in a one‑sided collision and was taken to hospital after ambulance treatment. In Zwolle, police arrested a 34‑year‑old driver accused of deliberately driving into a 67‑year‑old cyclist following a verbal dispute; the cyclist was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.

Road disruptions also occurred when a sand load fell from a trailer onto the N35 near Enschede, creating a temporary sand‑filled lane and traffic delays. Separate violent incidents included a stabbing at Almelo Central Station that left three people injured and prompted the arrest of two suspects, and an early‑morning explosion outside a house on Lekstraat in Enschede, which damaged a window but caused no injuries.

Additional accidents involved a serious collision on the A1 near the IJssel bridge at Deventer between a car and a truck, injuring the driver, and a parked car that fully burned on Kerkstraat in Glanerbrug, which was quickly contained by fire services. Police investigations are ongoing for the assaults, the explosion and the fire.
