Overman trailer released for Laerte Coutinho comedy

Migdal Filmes has released the official trailer for ‘Overman’, a comedy film based on the work of Brazilian cartoonist Laerte Coutinho. Directed by Tomás Portella and starring Caco Ciocler, the film is set to premiere in cinemas on October 22.

The story follows Overman, a hero with extraordinary powers but an ordinary, struggling life. Facing financial difficulties and an existential crisis, he accepts a position at the Secretariat of Public Security after a proposal from the Governor. In this new role, he works alongside Pâmela (the ‘Dog Woman’), a more competent and admired hero, forcing Overman to confront his own insecurities and toxic masculinity while dealing with the return of an old nemesis.

Originally created in 1998, the character gained popularity through comic strips in Folha de São Paulo. The film is a co-production involving Star Original Productions, FSA, and RioFilme, with distribution by Migdal Filmes and co-distribution by Elo Studios.
