Overwatch launches Season 5 with new hero Doctrine and map

Blizzard Entertainment has launched Overwatch Season 5, titled ‘A Grim Doctrine’. The update introduces Doctrine, a new vampire-themed Support hero with abilities involving an Eternal Scepter and mechanical bat-like drones. The season also features the first new Escort map in several years, Watchpoint: Grímsvötn, set in an Icelandic volcanic fissure.

Significant gameplay changes include a major role shift for Sombra, who moves from Damage to Tactical Support, and a rework for Roadhog. The update also includes a ‘Shadow Monarch’ collaboration with the anime and webtoon series Solo Leveling, offering themed cosmetics for characters such as Genji and Reaper.

Additionally, the season features the ‘Mystery Madness: Graveyard Games’ Halloween event, running through early November, and the return of previous Battle Passes through the ‘Unvaulted Passes’ feature.
