Oviedo 2031 candidacy integrates local gastronomy and youth art programs

The Oviedo 2031 European Capital of Culture candidacy has been named 'Cofrade de Honor' by the Cofradía del Desarme, Spain’s oldest gastronomic festival. The distinction was awarded to Rodolfo Sánchez, director general of Oviedo 2031, alongside artistic directors Paula García and Zoe López, during a ceremony at the Teatro Filarmónica.

As part of the cultural programming, the Desarme festival will be integrated into the Oviedo 2031 agenda to strengthen the link between local heritage and the capital of culture bid.

Additionally, the candidacy has launched the 'Pequeñas acciones por la Amabilidá' program. This initiative involves over one thousand primary and secondary students from fifteen educational centers. Through seventeen selected artistic projects—ranging from theater and music to audiovisual creation and biodesign—the program aims to promote values of empathy, inclusion, and coexistence under the candidacy’s motto, 'amabilidá'.
