Oviedo to display José Vivancos murals at Palacio de Congreses

The Oviedo city council approved the transfer of two large murals painted by José Vivancos, which had hung in the Pick‑Up bar for more than three decades. The works will be installed in the main hall of the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones, with a target opening at the end of September after the San Mateo festivities.

Councilor for Culture David Álvarez announced that the venue meets the technical requirements for the heavy, board‑mounted pieces and expressed satisfaction that the artworks will be accessible to the public. The murals were donated by former bar owner Juanjo Requejo, who kept them after the bar closed in 2015. The exhibition will showcase portraits of prominent Asturian figures such as former mayor Antonio Masip, singer Víctor Manuel, poet Ángel González and philosopher Gustavo Bueno.
