OÖVP proposes English language learning in Upper Austrian kindergartens

The OÖVP parliamentary club in Upper Austria has launched an initiative to introduce English language learning in kindergartens through play-based methods. The proposal suggests using songs, stories, and games to foster an early interest in the language.

Club leader Margit Angerlehner emphasized that English is a vital global language for economy, science, and technology. Given that Upper Austria is a leading export region, where every second job is linked to exports, early language skills are viewed as a way to strengthen the region's economic competitiveness and provide children with better educational and professional opportunities regardless of their family background.
