Romell Glave wins 100m gold at European Athletics Championships

At the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, British sprinter Romell Glave won the men's 100m gold medal with a time of 10.09 seconds. He was followed by teammate Jeremiah Azu, who took silver in 10.16 seconds. German sprinter Owen Ansah secured the bronze medal with a time of 10.19 seconds, marking the first German medal in this event at the championships since 1986.

Defending champion and Olympic gold medalist Marcell Jacobs of Italy finished seventh after suffering an adductor injury during the race.

Ansah's achievement comes amid significant controversy. The German National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has proposed a four-year ban against him for allegedly refusing a doping test in July. Ansah denies the allegations, stating he was under time pressure and unable to provide a sample immediately due to personal circumstances. While he is currently not suspended and allowed to compete, a future ban could result in the retroactive disqualification of his bronze medal.
