Owen Long named Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week

Arizona State linebacker Owen Long has been named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week by the Football Writers Association of America. The honor follows his performance in the Sun Devils' 24-17 victory over Kansas at the Union Jack Classic held at Wembley Stadium in London.

Long recorded 12 tackles, including nine solo stops, an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. His defensive contributions were pivotal in the fourth quarter, where he secured a turnover at the ASU 22-yard line and later intercepted a pass to halt a Kansas scoring attempt.

In addition to the national recognition, Long was also named the Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Week. He is the third player in Arizona State history to receive the Bronko Nagurski weekly honor since 2001, joining Caleb McCullough and Terrell Suggs. Wide receiver Jaren Hamilton was also recognized by the Big 12 as the Special Teams Player of the Week.
