Owensboro Community and Technical College celebrates 40th anniversary

Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a community-wide event titled ‘Boots & BBQ’. Scheduled for Saturday, September 26th, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the celebration expands on a previous tradition of on-campus student parties.

Presented by Owensboro Health, the event will feature live music from several bands, including The Blue Bridge Boys, Tailgate, Yellow Banks, and the OCTC Capital Bluegrass Band. The festivities will also include a ‘Touch a Truck’ event and a program fair highlighting various courses and trade skills offered by the college.

OCTC President Scott Williams will prepare barbecue for the attendees. Plates are priced at $15, with all proceeds benefiting the college’s Emergency Student Assistance Program, which supports various student needs and services. A special seating section for veterans will be provided by River Valley Behavioral Health.
