Owińska educational center celebrates 80 years of service

The Special Educational and Training Center in Owińska, operated by Poznań County, celebrated its 80th anniversary. The facility is recognized as one of Poland’s most prominent centers for the education and rehabilitation of blind and visually impaired individuals.

During the celebrations, Poznań Starost Jan Grabkowski presented symbolic keys to the center, highlighting its role in helping students overcome barriers and prepare for professional life. Izabela Ziętka, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of National Education, praised the institution as a pioneer in European typhlology, noting its unique combination of traditional teaching and advanced technology.

The center houses unique features, including Poland’s only Typhlological Museum, an Aromatorium containing a collection of 6,000 scents, and a Spatial Orientation Park designed to teach independent movement.
