Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association denies truckers' strike rumors

Rumors regarding a national truckers’ strike scheduled for Thursday have been dismissed as illegitimate by the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association. Despite social media claims suggesting a boycott due to rising diesel prices, industry officials state that such action would lead to legal complications and antitrust violations.

High diesel costs continue to impact the industry, particularly for small business truckers who comprise over 90% of American trucking companies. Unlike larger competitors, these owner-operators often lack the ability to raise rates immediately when fuel prices spike.

According to AAA, national diesel averages reached $6.45, with recent records hitting $6.52. In certain states, including California, Washington, and Hawaii, diesel prices have exceeded $7 per gallon.
