OWO Festival celebrates five years of upcycling in Accra
The Obroni Wawu October (OWO) Festival returns to Accra, Ghana, for its fifth anniversary with the theme ‘The Upcycling Bazaar’. Scheduled for October 25, 2026, at Untamed Empire, the event integrates fashion, music, art, and street culture to highlight the nation's secondhand clothing ecosystem.
Launched in 2022 by The Or Foundation, a non-profit working with the Kantamanto community, the festival aims to promote a justice-led circular economy. The initiative draws inspiration from Kantamanto Market, one of the world’s largest secondhand clothing hubs, where millions of garments are processed weekly by traders, tailors, and upcyclers.
Since its inception, the festival has hosted over 10,000 visitors and supported 155 upcycling businesses through various community activations, serving as a platform for entrepreneurship and environmental action.
