OX2 Secures $146 Million for Major Solar and Battery Projects in Poland

Sweden‑based renewable developer OX2 has arranged PLN 550 million (about $146 million) in financing from Germany's NORD/LB and Spain's CaixaBank for two Polish projects: a 50 MW battery‑energy‑storage system in Osiek Jasielski, Podkarpackie Voivodeship, and the 165 MW Lion photovoltaic farm in the Lubuskie region. The deal, advised by Norton Rose Fulbright, will back the battery’s capacity‑market agreement and the solar farm’s expected annual output of roughly 184 GWh.

Construction of the Lion solar farm, OX2’s largest in Poland, is proceeding on schedule for commissioning in 2027. Recent milestones include site clearing, geodetic work, installation of steel support structures, and the challenging drill‑through beneath the Odra River to connect the plant to the high‑voltage grid. Project managers Roman Dębski and Mariusz Brzozowski confirmed that the work on the GPO station and transmission link is advancing as planned.
