Oxford 250 racing week begins at Oxford Plains Speedway

The 53rd annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway has commenced, marking the biggest auto racing week in Maine. Drivers from the Pro All Star Series North are preparing for the event, which features competitors from Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Canada.

Rising fuel costs are significantly impacting racing teams. Drivers, including three-time champion Mike Rowe, noted that increased gas prices have made racing more expensive and travel more difficult for out-of-state competitors. To manage these costs, some teams are relying heavily on sponsorships.

Key contenders for the race include New Hampshire natives Jimmy Renfrew Jr., Kyle Salemi, Gabe Brown, and DJ Shaw. Shaw, who recently won the Celebration of America 300, is looking to secure his first Oxford 250 victory after several previous top-three finishes.
