Oxxo expands in Colombia with new Metro station location
Oxxo has expanded its presence in Colombia by opening its first convenience store within the Medellín Metro system at the Niquía station. This opening marks the company’s 40th store in the Antioquia department.
Andrés Morales, General Director of Oxxo Colombia, stated that the new location is designed to serve commuters with quick access to snacks, beverages, and prepared foods, operating in alignment with the Metro’s full service schedule. The company identifies Antioquia as a strategic zone and notes that each new store initially generates between five and six direct jobs.
Nationally, Oxxo operates approximately 650 stores in Colombia, with a goal to reach 700 by the end of the year. The company employs nearly 5,400 direct collaborators in the country, reporting that 70% of its workforce are women, half of whom are heads of households.
