Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya Elected President of Nigerian Bar Association
Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya has been elected the 33rd president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), becoming the second woman to hold the post since the association’s founding. Her election follows a national vote that also placed women in six of the NBA’s ten elective national offices, marking a notable shift toward gender inclusion within the legal profession.
The African Women Lawyers Association praised the outcome, describing it as a landmark for women’s leadership and aligning it with global gender‑equality goals such as UN Sustainable Development Goal 5. AWLA highlighted that the NBA’s new leadership reflects growing confidence in women’s competence, vision, and capacity to advance justice in Nigeria.
