Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya Elected President of Nigerian Bar Association

Senior Advocate of Nigeria Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya won the Nigerian Bar Association presidential election, receiving 12,317 votes (47.18%) out of 26,106 ballots cast. She defeated fellow SANs Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe (7,934 votes) and Olumuyiwa Akinboro (5,855 votes). Voter turnout was 31.86% of the 82,172 registered members.

Badejo-Okusanya, the only female candidate among three, will become the 33rd president and the first elected woman to lead the NBA, following Priscilla Kuye’s interim presidency in 1991‑92. She assumes office at the NBA’s Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt (August 21‑28) and has pledged to restore public confidence, promote the rule of law, and protect human rights.
