Oyo State Governor Makinde approves wage renewals and new appointments

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has implemented several administrative and economic measures within the state. He approved the renewal of a wage award for civil servants for an additional three months and extended the state's transport subsidy to help mitigate economic hardships caused by rising fuel prices.

In terms of personnel, the Governor approved new appointments to the Oyo State Advisory Council, the Hospitals Management Board, and the Housing Corporation. Additionally, 102 officers from the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) received promotions, a move intended to recognize quality service and integrate the agency more deeply into the state's civil service structure.

Makinde noted that the state's monthly wage bill has increased significantly from N4.5bn in 2019 to N18bn, while the minimum wage has risen from N18,000 to N80,000 during that period.
