Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde appoints new Chief of Staff

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced a significant administrative reshuffle within his government. Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, formerly the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff. Akinwole, also known as ‘Wolekanle’, transitions into the role with a focus on reinforcing public service delivery through his experience in grassroots leadership.

In a related appointment, Mrs. Aderonke Adedayo has been named the Director-General of the Due Process Office. Adedayo will maintain her current role as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies, a dual mandate intended to improve institutional transparency and project execution efficiency.

This leadership change follows the resignation of the previous Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, who stepped down effective October 12, 2026. While Ogunwuyi expressed gratitude for his time in office, he did not provide a specific reason for his departure.

Additionally, Akinwole has expressed intentions to utilize the expertise of retired Permanent Secretaries to bolster human capacity building within the state's local government service areas, viewing veteran public servants as vital mentors and consultants.
