Oyo State Judicial Commission seeks public input on Oriire school abduction

The Oyo State Government has set up a Judicial Commission of Enquiry to investigate the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in the Esinele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Government Area. The commission, headed by Secretary Mrs. Olamide Sandra Tella, has called on anyone with relevant information to submit written memoranda covering the circumstances of the incident, security conditions before, during and after the abduction, any contributing acts or omissions, responses by authorities or communities, and recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Submissions may be delivered in person to the commission’s secretariat in Ibadan or sent by email, and must be addressed to the Secretary of the Judicial Commission. All memoranda are due by 14 August 2026. Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the commission, emphasizing the need for comprehensive public cooperation to uncover the facts and improve security.
