Oyo State Police rescue infant sold for N2 million
The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a one-month-old baby girl following an alleged child trafficking incident in the Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan. Two suspects, including the child’s mother and the owner of the health facility where the infant was delivered, have been arrested.
The case was reported on October 15 by Mary Amos after she noticed her granddaughter had disappeared. Investigations suggest the infant was sold for N2 million. According to police, the mother, identified as Cecilia, allegedly received N1 million, while the health facility owner and another suspect each received N500,000.
Cecilia reportedly implicated the 40-year-old facility owner and another individual, claiming they lured her into the arrangement to facilitate the sale to a woman named Odunayo. While one suspect, Adeleke, has been arrested, police are continuing efforts to apprehend other individuals, including Folawewo, to bring all parties involved to justice.
