Oyo State security base attacked by armed bandits

Armed bandits attacked an Operation Burst security base located within a forest reserve along the Igbeti–Igboho axis in the Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

The attack occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. According to reports from the Oorelope Local Government Command, the attackers arrived in large numbers and opened fire on security personnel using powerful weapons. While security agencies mobilized in response to a distress call, the perpetrators had already fled the scene by the time they arrived.

No casualties were recorded during the incident. However, the attackers caused significant property damage, setting fire to a building block within the security base and an abandoned patrol van. Other items, including motorcycles and a generator, were reportedly taken. Security operatives have since combed the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the fleeing suspects.
