Oyo State strengthens security and health funding initiatives

The Oyo State government is implementing new strategies to address security and public health challenges. To combat terrorism financing, the state is partnering with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This collaboration aims to prevent criminal networks from exploiting humanitarian funding platforms, NGOs, and informal financial systems to move illicit funds.

In the health sector, the Oyo State Agency for the Control of AIDS (OYSACA) is calling for increased domestic financing to protect progress made in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Officials warned that shifting global health financing and a transition away from donor reliance necessitate stronger local ownership and involvement from local government areas, the private sector, and civil society to sustain prevention and treatment efforts.
