OzHarvest brings CEO CookOff to Newcastle to combat food insecurity
The food rescue organization OzHarvest is bringing its CEO CookOff to Newcastle this October to address rising food insecurity. The event aims to raise funds as more families struggle to afford basic necessities.
Chef Robert Molines will collaborate with local business leaders to cook and serve meals for OzHarvest clients at the Clyde St Arts Precinct in Hamilton North on October 20. Other participating chefs include Colin Fassnidge, Miguel Maestre, and Sharon Winsor. Numerous local executives from companies such as WesTrac NSW/ACT and Port Waratah Coal Services have joined the initiative.
A recent OzHarvest Frontline Report highlighted a significant gap in food assistance, noting that over 350,000 people seek food support monthly, while more than 74,000 are turned away. While OzHarvest currently delivers food to 1,500 charities across Australia, there are approximately 1,600 charities currently on a waitlist.
