Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath concert film set for Japan release
The concert film ‘Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning’ has been scheduled for theatrical release in Japan. The film documents the final performance of the legendary heavy metal group and frontman Ozzy Osbourne, which took place on July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK. The event featured the original four members of Black Sabbath—Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—reunited for the first time in approximately 20 years.
Following Osbourne’s death at age 76 on July 22, 2025, the film serves as a final farewell. It includes the live performance, behind-the-scenes footage, and tributes from various musicians, including Metallica, Guns N' Roses, and Tool. The film was musically directed by Tom Morello.
In Japan, the release schedule includes a Japan Premiere in Tokyo and Osaka on October 28, a special Halloween screening in several cities on October 31, and a nationwide release across 58 theaters on November 7. The November 7 screening coincides with the 45th anniversary of the album ‘Diary of a Madman’ and will feature special events, including some screenings where standing and headbanging are permitted.
